About JaHRVis
The Jamaica Healthcare Reporting and Visualization System or JaHRVis is, at its core, a form generation system. Its primary purpose is to provide tools for auditing and performance appraisal of a single facility or of the nation's healthcare system in general.
History
Development begun early in 2020 when a small team from the Systems and Information Technology Unit (SITU) attempted to make a single tool that could handle both the Hospital Monthly Stasitical Report (HMSR) and the Monthly Clinic Summary Report(MCSR). Both the MCSR and the HMSR and monthly, per-facility reports with lots of variables, of different categories arranged under different headers.
Though the two reports were very different, from the perspective of software, they are very very similar
In January 2020, the SITU begun development. The project was then named MHSR - Monthly Healthcare Summary Reporting System. And, there was a novel coronavirus making trouble in China.
After successfully demonstrating the potential for the system to the directorship of the Policy, Planning and Development Division (PPDD) in March, it was time for the next phase.
Acknowledging the potential for what we had built, and the fact that we now had the ability to generate reporting periods of arbitrary length, the decision was taken to remove the word Monthly from the name; to change the name completely.
The name JaHRVis was chosen based on the computerised assistant of the fictional character Tony Stark from the books and films published by Marvel Studios. Though the character's name is Jarvis, we added the H for healthcare.
By Summer of 2020, the name JaHRVis was established for this project and the meaning was agreed upon.
Support
JaHRVis is supported by the Systems and Information Technology Unit (SITU) for all hosting and performance matters. Operational and procedural matters are handled by the Policy Planning and Development Division (PPDD), both of the Ministry of Health and Wellness in JAMAICA
